This essay reviews the influence Catholic New Testament scholarship had on German Protestant exegesis since Vaticanum II. The influence of leading Catholic scholars like R.E. Brown, J.A. Fitzmyer, F. Mußner, F. Neirynck, R. Schnackenburg, H. Schürmann, A. Vögtle, and P. Hoffmann and of their students, as well as the importance of exegetical colloquia like the Colloquium Biblicum in Louvain and the ecumenical Colloquium Paulinum in Rome are highlighted.
